Black History Month Celebration

The AAUW/Humanities Foundation  Black History Month event coming up on Tuesday, February 16 at 4:00 in Carmichael Library on the UM campus. Program is on “Mother’s Day 1961:  The Freedom Rides in Alabama,” presented by UM Alum Laura Caldwell Anderson. Everyone is welcome.  For more details, see post.

Luncheon and Silent Auction to support AAUW’s Educational Foundation and Montevallo’s Reading Is Fundamental program. Proceeds benefit Reading Is Fundamental, Adult Literacy, and AAUW’s national and local scholarship funds. This year Styles will be provided by Belk and lunches by Southern Sweets. The Silent Auction will offer arts, crafts, and other seasonal specialty items and area services. The ticket price of $16.00 includes the luncheon, style show, silent auction, and a donation to support educational initiatives of the Montevallo Branch of AAUW. Read our post here

Contributions to the Silent Auction are welcome. Items may be dropped off at Blue Phrog Gallery on Main Street, Montevallo, or at Tracy Payne-Rockco’s office in Reynolds Hall on the UM campus. Reception and Awards ceremony

The recipients of the AAUW Senior Award will be honored.  This award is given each year to the senior woman (or women in the case of a tie) with the highest overall grade point average. In addition to the Award, recipients will receive a complimentary membership in AAUW for the coming year.
