Nominations for 2015

Below is an exciting report submitted by the Nominating Committee of the Montevallo Branch of AAUW. Committee members are Amanda Melcher, Chair; Barbara Belisle, and Dorothy Grimes.

The Committee has presented us with the following outstanding candidates for leadership roles in the Montevallo Branch of AAUW:

President, Tracy Payne Rockco (PayneT@montevallo.edu) Tracy is Director of Alumni Affairs, University of Montevallo
Co-VP for Programs, Lea Ann Webb (lea.ann.webb@gmail.com) Lea Ann is retired from a position with Alabama’s Medicaid program
Co-VP for programs, Amanda Melcher (melcheras@montevallo.edu) Amanda is Assistant Professor and Head of Technical Services at UM’s Carmichael Library.
Co-VP for Membership, Carolyn Jones (JonesCL@montevallo.edu) Carolyn is Administrative Specialist, UM President’s Office
Co-VP for Membership, Brenda Hines (205 665 4310) Brenda is retired from the Shelby County Public Schools
Treasurer, Tonja Battle (battletl@montevallo.edu). Tonja is Administrative Assistant in the Office of Dean of Arts and Sciences, University of Montevallo
Secretary, Kathy Lowe (lowek@montevallo.edu). Kathy is Associate Professor and Director of Carmichael Library at the University of Montevallo.

All of us can be proud and grateful for the Nominating Committee’s work in recruiting such wonderful leaders for the coming year. We think this is a remarkable slate of nominees. The new officers will be formally elected at the beginning of the first meeting in the fall. From that point on, the newly elected officers will conduct the meeting.

At this meeting, we will also introduce Committee Chairs. Among these are:
Public Policy Committee: Elaine Hughes, Chair, Nancy Wilstach and Lea Ann Webb;
Hospitality and Fundraising: Faye Roberts and Barbara Broadhead;
Website: Helen Moshkovich;
College/University Representative, Mary Jo Buff; Diversity, Barbara Belisle;
Communication, Sandra Lott.

We will also announce a steering committee for the Adelante Book Group.

Please let us know if there is a particular area or issue on which you would especially like to work during the coming year. The new Board members will welcome your suggestions and ideas as they begin plans for an exciting schedule of AAUW programs and projects. You will soon receive information about the time and place of the first meeting.
